Join the Love Love Maui Movement
On August 8, 2023, a heartbreaking event unfolded as unprecedented wildfires swept across the beautiful Hawaiian island of Maui. The flames ravaged the land, displacing numerous residents and causing devastation beyond measure. It’s truly saddening that the centuries-old town Lahaina, rich in history, was reduced to ashes and ruins, leaving behind tales of loss and hardship.
Amidst this tragedy, our hearts go out to the brave souls affected by this catastrophe. More than 100+ lives were tragically lost, a place that will forever be remembered in our thoughts and prayers. The enormity of this wildfire’s impact places it among the world’s most devastating events.
Lahaina bore the brunt of this tragedy, its cherished history razed to the ground. The damage is immense, with the Kula fire adding to the toll. Preliminary figures reveal the extent of the loss – over 2,200 buildings, predominantly homes, have been destroyed or damaged, painting a somber picture of the aftermath.
In the midst of this sorrow, let us also focus on the compassion that emerges during such trying times. Yobi Paddle, a local company from Hilo, Hawaii, has created a symbol to help the pickleball community to remember. They’ve partnered with Maui’s Sae Design Group to create the “Love Love Maui” paddle, a testament to the commitment of raising awareness about the challenges facing Maui’s people.
Though the road to recovery may be long and arduous, let the “Love Love Maui” paddle remind us that even in the face of adversity, our unity and compassion can help rebuild not just structures, but the spirits of those affected. Together, we send our thoughts, love, and positive energy to Maui as they strive to rebuild and reclaim their sense of normalcy.
